"We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.” – Anais Nin
Think about moments in your life when you may have felt like someone didn't care about you, or that you thought you weren't good enough, or when you were picking on someone else's look, or even felt like you didn't have enough things in comparison to someone else. The quote I wanted to highlight today is something I wanted to use to make you aware of your thoughts and your own internal feelings. One of the things I've learned is that our reality of everything that we see or feel from things outside of our bodies is really just a reflection of who we are in our mind. How we are feeling internally ourselves. We can walk out on the beach and look at a sunset over the ocean one day and not really see its' beauty and instead get caught up in how hot the sand is, or annoyed that there are too many people walking the beach at the same time as us. Or we can walk out on the beach and look at the sunset, the beach filled with people walking and think about how beautiful the sunset is, and how great it is to see so many people taking time to enjoy the beauty of it all.
These two experiences are in the same place, felt by the same you, but your state of mind is what really changes the perspective.
I use this just as an example, but I'm sure you can think of moments where you thought negative things and later may have learned that it wasn't a reality, but an idea in your head. Or that the experience wasn't bad, you just had a bad attitude about it.
I want to challenge you to be aware of your thoughts. It's the only think that we can really control in our lives. It is hard to make a shift initially to think in a postive way most of the time, but it is probably the most important challenge and job you should do in this lifetime. Our reality is a reflection of our internal thoughts and world. You can control your mind and eyes to see the best in everything or the worst.
Take this as a wake up call to be aware of your thoughts and to make the changes to start to shift your reality for a more happy, positive one.
