Quotes to Live By - Really Live

Posted by Lauren Eyer

"Somebody should tell us, right at the start of our lives, that we are dying.  Then we might live life to the limit every minute of every day.  Do it!  I say.  Whatever you want to do, do it now!  There are only so many tomorrows."  - Pope Paul VI

I think sometimes, me included, we go through life and take for granted just living.  Going through the motions of the day-to-day and not soaking in the beauty of it all.  Not appreciating the emotions we have experienced; the good and the bad.  The smallest of things from a warm shower, listening to the rain, the wind before a storm rolls in, the feel of sand between your toes or grass beneath your feet.  The colors of a sunset, a hug, your loving pet greeting you when you come home.  Hearing a good story, seeing something for the first time.  Dancing, or a phone call from a friend.

These are small things we miss on a regular basis.  They may seem small, but life passes by so quickly and so many of us are waiting to live for the BIG things that we miss these seemingly small things and we look back and time went by that much faster because we really missed out on living our lives just waiting for big moments to come and pass.

I believe that we all have a purpose or a gift to share, whether we have found it yet or not. It’s great to have big events and big dreams to look forward to.  To have goals to accomplish and work hard to achieve them.  But I think we should all learn to really love just living a little more and hopefully some of the “simple” things I mentioned will trigger you to be more mindful and grateful for moments like that too.  Soak it all in.  There are only so many tomorrows.
